Coffee: The Ingredient of Life

I, like many people on this planet, cannot function without a good ole cup of Joe in the morning. Right now,  coffee drinkers have more choice than ever when it comes to what kind of coffee they want to enjoy. It's even harder once you try and make your own coffee at home.

Which roast should I buy? How much coffee do I put into the filter? Should I buy pre-ground or whole bean? Does any of this really make a difference???

From personal experience I can tell you that all of these options make a difference. Recently I began discovering that my reliable economy can of Folgers Country Roast wasn't tasting all that great. I tried measuring out the recommended amount of coffee, but it didn't improve the flavor.

So my the next step was to head to the grocery store and find a new brand of coffee to try. Normally when I go to Starbucks I get the Blonde Roast that they have, so I figured this would be a good starting point. To my surprise the next morning, the coffee I had brewed tasted nothing like when the baristas make it.

Am I doomed to drink terrible homemade coffee forever? I can't believe that is true. I'm on a mission to find out how to make a good cup of coffee. I'm sure mistakes will be made on this journey but we will learn what it takes to make the perfect cup of coffee consistently at home. Check back soon to see what I've found out and what I'll be trying next.

Cheers!
